Your expectations first. Your plan next.
Smile design is not the name of one standard procedure. A plan brings together the features you would like to change and your oral health. Not every tooth needs treatment.
“Do I definitely need veneers?”
No. Depending on your needs, orthodontics, whitening or veneers may be considered. Orthodontics addresses tooth position, whitening addresses the colour of natural teeth, and veneers cover the front surfaces of teeth.
Whitening does not change the colour of existing crowns or dentures and may cause sensitivity. Veneers may require irreversible removal of tooth tissue. They can need repair or replacement over time.
Oral health is the starting point.
Decay or gum problems should be addressed first. Suitability, possible limitations and care needs are discussed during an examination. A specific appearance or permanent result cannot be guaranteed.
Let’s talk before you decide.
- How much work would my teeth need?
- Is there a less invasive option?
- What care or replacement might be needed later?
Simply describe the change you have in mind, in your own words. You don’t need to arrive with a treatment already chosen.
